Oregon: She flies with her own wings

Jules and willi wanted to go so this time it's off to Oregon. We made it home and here’s some narrative and a few more pics from the trip. After driving the big bus from this past summer’s Alaska adventure, we have been looking at smaller, easier to maneuver yet still comfortable RV options. Enter the Road Trek Adventurous, we got the 2011 model, and the 2013 models has some nice improvements that would lead us to that model over this one. Yea take a look at that rig, we rollin in a Benz yo!
Here’s the view up one of the drives through the vineyards
We posed by the van after our first tasting
We traveled around the small towns of the Willamette Valley, enjoyed, nice views, great food and drink and people. Here’s Julie in the little town of Carlton.
We visited the Evergreen Aviation Museum and it was pretty enjoyable… Photobucket Its where the Spruce Goose now sits but we found out its more Birch than Spruce, we did get to go inside but my fotos came out poorly. Photobucket Me wandering around the place, it really was pretty cool
Jules self portrait at the air museum’s section on firearms, I’m in the far back left of foto
One thing I learned at the Air museum, we hear about drones being used in combat and around the world, what I did not know was how big these guys are. Here’s a drone, below it is an F-14 and the Russian equivalent….All three are about the same size. The drone is huge!
Back on the road, we headed down the coast The rig was comfy to drive and handled almost as good as a Mercedes Coupe
Driving along the coast we crossed many a bay bridge, mostly looking like this one.
Everywhere in the State Oregon football fans proudly display their support for the team.
We headed down for a view of the coast. Our home for a few days…Sea Perch Here’s our spot at Sea Perch by the Pacific with a setting sun…
Trying to get that perfect marketing shot…
Our little rig’s “kitchen” had two burners, a fridge, sink, and a comb convection/microwave oven, here’s one of us cooking…
And sharing in the duties, here’s Jules preparing another excellent breakfast
Still looking for the illusive marketing foto
Saw this sign outside the laundry room at Sun Perch…we ended up doing our own laundry
Here is a view of the beach at Sea Perch, little breezy with a slight chill, but then again its October!
And us at another sunset… Photobucket Then it was east back to the Willamette, we were looking for an agreeable lunch and Yelp directed us here… As we approached up the long drive, we knew this was going to be a special place… The King’s Estate
After an enjoyable tasting and a wonderful lunch, we posed for a foto outside Photobucket One more photo as we finally got around to leaving, wish they would have had an RV lot.
And then we were on our way back to paradise, where I got to fly over to Molokai and paddle back with about 800 of my fellow paddlers at the Molokai Hoe. Today I rest. See you on the trails Amigo’s!
